Victoria — Georgina Camilleri, co-owner of Page One Publishing, is pleased to announce that Alastair Chesson has joined the team as Art Director.

Educated in British Columbia, Alberta, and Germany, Alastair has been working in the design and communications field since 1985, including several years with Sony VAIO of Europe and Dainippon Screen Ltd., Europe.

Page One Publishing Launches New Magazine
Victoria, BC — Page One Publishing (VICTORIA) announced today they are launching DOUGLAS, a new magazine for the Victoria business community. Douglas is a glossy, full-colour magazine published bimonthly, and the premier issue is set for November, 2006. The new magazine includes print and online components and targets business owners, executives, and managers.

Norman Gidney, former business columnist and reporter at the Times Colonist and editor of Victoria’s Business Report, is leading the editorial team as consulting editor. The content features in-depth articles by established writers and profiles of people and businesses, as well as resources and contact information to connect local businesses. Articles and columns highlight technology, human resources issues, marketing, lifestyle and leisure, and business travel. Douglas also provides information on current events and issues that affect business in the Greater Victoria area.

Jay has an extensive advertising sales and management background in radio, television, and publishing in Canada and the United States. Originally from Edmonton, Jay’s experience includes sales and management positions with CHUM Radio (Victoria), Dare to Win (Phoenix), Talk Radio (Phoenix), Broker Magazine (Scottsdale), and OK Radio Group (Victoria). Noted for his strong leadership skills and track record for achieving above-average results, Jay is looking forward to the challenges at Page One as the company continues to grow.

Page One Publishing Makes Top Ten List

October 7, 2005, Victoria, BC

Three magazines published by Victoria-based Page One Publishing Inc. are listed in Business in Vancouver's annual compilation of the biggest B.C.-based magazines.

Tourism Victoria's Official Vacation Guide ranked third with a circulation of 250,000. As Tourism Victoria's official guide for visitors, this annual publication plays a significant role in marketing Victoria to the world. Page One has been producing publications for Tourism Victoria since 1998.

Number six on the list is the British Columbia Sport Fishing Guide, which has a circulation of 150,000. A planning tool for vacationing freshwater and saltwater anglers, the B.C. Sport Fishing Guide promotes the many outstanding fishing opportunities in British Columbia. Page One Publishing has published this guide since it was introduced in 2004.

Fresh Magazine, which has a quarterly circulation of 100,000, is listed in eleventh place. Fresh is a full-colour, full-size, quarterly magazine with engaging editorial that offers helpful information and tips on food safety, along with advice on how to buy, prepare, and enjoy a variety of seasonal foods. Page One publishes Fresh for Thrifty Foods.

Page One Publishing and Thrifty Foods Launch a FRESH New Magazine 

June 1, 2005 Victoria, BC – Thrifty Foods and Page One Publishing today announced the release of the premiere issue of FRESH, a complimentary consumer magazine available exclusively at all Thrifty Foods locations.  FRESH is a full-colour, full-size quarterly magazine with engaging editorial that offers helpful information and tips on food safety, along with advice on how to buy, prepare, and enjoy a variety of seasonal foods.
 
“Our customers know that one of the things we value most is excellent customer service,” said Malcolm Webster, Director of Marketing and Communications at Thrifty Foods. “FRESH provides us with a way to share the knowledge and expertise of some of our 3,600 employees with our customers. It also gives us a chance to highlight some of the products and services we have and bring attention to the community initiatives in which we’re involved.”
 
Page One Publishing, a Victoria-based publishing company with a staff of fourteen, will publish 100,000 copies of FRESH for Thrifty Foods each season (400,000 annually). The estimated annual readership is over one million.

May 13, 2005 - Everyone at Page One Publishing is excited about winning another two-year contract to publish Tourism Victoria’s 2006/2007 official guides: the Vacation Guide, the Meeting Planner’s Guide, the Tour and Travel Planner, and the Destination folder. This new contract renews our seven-year partnership with Tourism Victoria. All four of these official Tourism Victoria Guides are slated for printing in early 2006.

January 31, 2005 – Page One has been awarded the contract to publish Tourism Vancouver Island’s Vancouver Island Vacation Guide. This three-year contract renews the seven-year partnership between our two companies.For the past three years, the Vancouver Island Vacation Guide has been the most successful regional guide in British Columbia.

“Page One plays an integral role in helping us market Vancouver Island to the world,” says Dave Petryk, President and CEO of Tourism Vancouver Island. “The quality of this publication, which goes with us to tradeshows in Canada, the United States, and Europe, is representative of the quality visitors can expect of their vacation experience on Vancouver Island.”  The 2006 edition of the Vancouver Island Vacation Guide, estimated at 120 pages and 250,000 copies, will be published in December 2005.

November 24, 2004 Victoria, B.C. — Lise Gyorkos, President of Page One Productions, is pleased to announce that Anna Harvey has joined the team as Director of Sales and Marketing.

Anna has a comprehensive knowledge of print publications gained through more than twenty years in sales, editorial, and marketing with WHERE visitor magazine in both Victoria and Edmonton, Associate Publisher of Wedding Bells magazine, Moving To magazine, and Western Living. Anna’s communication and marketing background includes Communications Manager for both Victoria’s Greater Victoria Hospital Foundation and the Calgary head office of Travelodge Canada.
Anna is a graduate of Mount Royal College’s PR program, a Toastmaster CTM and past president, and an active community volunteer. She is the Marketing Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters Chocolatefest event, a BBBS in-school mentor, a contributor to CNIB’s Eye Appeal, and has served on the marketing committees of the Victoria Hospitality Award Program, Maritime Museum of British Columbia, and the special events committees of the Trans Canada Trail Relay 2000 and the YM-YWCA Women of Distinction.
