Page One History: From Downstairs to Downtown Lise Gyorkos
and Georgina Camilleri co-founded
Page One Publishing Inc. (originally Page One Productions)
in 1998 after the publishing company where both
women worked closed its doors. Faced with unemployment, Lise
and Georgina immediately set up business in Georgina’s
dining room with two computers and a telephone. Lise and
Georgina then focused on getting the word out that Page One
was in business and worked hard to establish relationships
and procure contracts that would enable them to prove themselves
in the publishing industry. It worked! Before long, they
outgrew the dining room and moved into Georgina’s basement
where the larger space allowed them to bring in more equipment
and more staff to meet the increasing demands of their growing
business. In September 2003, Page One had, once again, outgrown its
space and moved to its present downtown Victoria location
where it continues to grow. Now Page One has a staff of fourteen
and a list of happy clients that includes Tourism Vancouver
Island, Tourism Victoria, the Sport Fishing Marketing Alliance,
Tourism B.C., the Vancouver Island Golf Alliance, and Thrifty
Foods. Right from the first day, Georgina
and Lise were determined to build their company based on
a solid foundation of excellence
in customer service and product quality. They are very proud
of the reputation Page One has within the business community
and, more importantly, of having gained the trust of their
many clients.
